Ayurveda is considered yoga's "sister science," and the two go together like two peas in a pod. Whereas yoga focuses more on cultivating power, clarity, and balance of mind ayurveda focuses more on cultivating a healthy, balanced body from the inside out. We are what we eat, and in ayurveda food is key to our health. Ayurveda embraces the idea that we are all unique in our constitution and therefore have unique requirements that will support our body's cells and tissues function optimally. At Adya, we offer regular workshops on ayurveda in addition to one-on-one consultations. Since each individual is unique, personal consultations are highly recommended so that you can learn what foods, herbs, spices, and lifestyle practices will be best for you.
Your initial Ayurvedic Consultation includes an in-depth look at past and current health concerns, lifestyle choices, and body constitution in order to uncover three things:
1. What is the constitution that is uniquely you, that will keep you feeling most balanced physically and mentally,
2. What is the constitutional imbalance that is creating health concerns and keeping you feeling out of balance,
3. What actions can you take, in terms of diet, lifestyle, yoga, and meditation, to bring you back to balanced (healthy) body and mind.
You will leave with a comprehensive understanding of your unique constitution and empowered to take charge of your own well-being through specific actions.
Follow-up appointments are available to help fine-tune your progress, keep you on track (you didn't go out of balance in one day and it will take longer than one day to re-establish balance), and develop a deeper understanding of your body through the lens of ayurveda.
